This hypothetical event poster was created by utilizing stencil-based graffiti art. By sorting through the lyrics frequently used by the band Seawolf, the prevailing themes of home and sea were chosen as imagery for the the poster. The pictures were found in vintage magazines and were paired together in a collage-like manner, resulting in a surreal effect. Afterwards, I handcut a 4 piece stencil, containing each color layer. I spray painted the original poster at an analog size of 24”x33” in order to accommodate the small detail, then I reduced the size for printing. Finally, I added the text digitally and the fonts were chosen to reflect the handmade process and create a playfulness, akin to the band’s taste. The pink color was chosen to create balance with the sky while the other colors complement the sea.
